Hunting is a sport enjoyed by many people. If you are someone who loves the outdoors and are completely satisfied and at home in the great outdoors and wilderness then you should have tried your hand at hunting. Hunting is not a bad activity and hunting helps is maintaining that balance between the animals and their habitats or living surroundings.
Animals depend on their habitats to survive and if there is abundant habitats then there will obviously be a rampant increase in animal population which will lead to the depletion of the available food and shelter and if the food and shelter of these animals does not increase in accordance with the spurge in population then there can be a depletion of habitats and can leave some animals competing with each other for survival. Whether it is small game or big game hunting, hunting can do good to the environment and habitats of the animals.
Big game hunting comprises of hunting down animals which you find in the forests and actual wilderness. These animals include the big animals like deer’s, wilder beasts, wild buffaloes, leopards, tigers and lions. These animals live in the interior of the forests and to hunt them you have to go into their habitat which is risky and dangerous except for those experienced hunters who have been in the hunting profession for years together and know what to expect and how to deal when situations turn ugly.
Small game hunting is the official name given to hunting of small animals like rabbits, ducks, quails, water fowls, tree squirrels, blue grouse, band tailed pigeon and other small animals. Every species of animal has its own habitat which encompasses food, shelter and space to live and run about it. Having some kind of knowledge of the specific habitat of these animals will give the hunter a better chance of finding them.
While big game hunting require a license so does a small game hunting. There can be also different kinds of guns used for both these types of hunting although an air gun can be used to hunt both a big game as well as a small game. Guns for big game hunting may be of slightly better quality in terms of handling, aim, weight and firing reaction. For big game hunting the aim will be taken from a safe distance which requires the gun to be of high quality to improve the chances of getting the game.
While small game hunting can be done from a distance a little closer, care should be taken not to go too close otherwise the small games can be scared away. The kind of games you want to shoot, the number, the environments you want to circulate and the risk you want to take are the factors which determine whether you want to indulge in big game or small game hunting. Either way you improve your chances of getting more games, knowledge of the survival habitats of the animals is definitely required.
